LOAN TROUBLES.

PREMIER’S TALK. j By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, last night. A press cable was received from New South Wales last nignt to the effect that the Premier of New Zealand was incorrect in his alleged statement that two millions of the Now South Wales loan was still unplaced. In this connection Mr Seddou i received a cable from Mr See, Premier of New South Wales, as follows : “ It is reported in a cable from Wellington that in the course of a political address Sir Joseph Ward said that two millions c; t-h* New South Wales loan was still, un- ; placed. Please correct this.” Mr Seddun ;:ss replied mat evidently a mistake had (.risen in reporting or cabling, with the result that the word “ unplaced ” had been used instead of the word *’unloaded”: that the New Zealand Government knew that the New South Wales lean had only been partially subscribed for by the public j as that of New Zealand had been, and' that Sir Joseph Ward, as well as himself, knew that the New South Wales loan was I underwritten and allotted; consequently the error was apparent. The cable concludes: ” W e know nothing whatever as to your future intentions. The reference made was to the floating of your last fourmillion loan,”
