The Council of the Chamber of Commerce considered the question of inconvenience caused to traders by the frequent ijank holidays, and agreed that all the Chambers of Commerce in New Zealand ,e communicated with urging a joint protest to the Government in the matter. At the meeting of the Council of Chamber of Commerce a resolution was passed that the Council deprecates the action of the Government in dismissing, without sufficient notice, thy large number of men employed on the railway works, thus causing a serious loss to the large number of storekeepers and to the community, many of whom have thereby been forced into bankruptcy.
