There was a largo attendance of parents and friends of the scholars, and a very pleasant time was spent, A first-class programme was submitted, and each item was received with enthusiastic applause, but, owing to tho length of tho programme, encores were not encouraged. The choruses by tho pupils were exceptionally well rendered, and were striking testimony of tho care and attention that had been bestowed by the Sisters of Mercy in the training of tho young people. Tho opening number was “ Tbo Gipsies’ Laughing Chorus,” which was splendidly treated, and this was followed by a number of other excellent items, including “ Ring Out, Wild Bells,” “Tho Elfin Call,” and “ Merry, Merry Christmas,” each piece being received with much applause. The pianoforte duet, “ National Airs,” by Misses Kathleen Martin and Emily McConville, was most carefully performed, whilst the violin selection, “ The Last Rose of Summer,” by Master Harry Martin and Miss Lullie Power, was likewiseamost enjoyabloitem.
