The Wellington Amateur A*'jj e tic Club had fine weather for tb Q mce ti n( r 0 n Saturday afternoon. A ‘ stl -ong breeze blew across the ground, and prevented any standard' being broken. W. H. Pollock beat A. S. Henderson (ser) by - ven yards in the Half-milo run, in ‘2.10. The latter, syds behind, beat Gore, 15yds behind, by inches in tho 120yds Hurdles, in 19 2-5. L. B. Webster (scr) ran second in his heat of tho 120yds Handicap, but was unplaced in the final. Webster and Pollock met in tho final of the 220yds. Webster, who eased up in the straight, won in 23 4-5, a tick outside the standard. Pollock finished third. Both ran unplaced in the 410yds, won by J. D. O’Kane (25,yds), a St. Patrick’s College boy. O’Kane put up 53 1-5. George Murdoch threw the hammer 100 ft 10in. lie also put the shot 38ft 9in, but on being weighed it was found to be only 12 pounds. W. H. Overton cleared sft 2.jin in the high jump, and C. H. Manson 19ft 3in in the long jump. Pollock and Webster will probably be selected to represent the Club at Auckland. Both intend to make the journey. Twenty-one members of the Wellington Cycling Club competed in a hillclimbing competition this afternoon, from Ivaiwara to the top of tho Croftou hill, a distance of about one mile and a-half. The first four were: J. Nattrass (ser), smin 51 sec ; H. Westbury (Bsccs), 6min 26see ; Williamson (45sec) and A. Minogue (80 secs), 6min 52sec.
