Christchurch, last night. Charles George Baker, licensee of the Sandridge Hotel, Sydenham Hotel, was fined 20s this morning for refusing to admit the police on a recent Sunday evening. Several cases under the Dairy Act were heard to-day. Isaac Parish was fined os for neglecting to cool his milk before offering it for sale. Edward Cockayne was fined 40s and costs for using a milk-cart for carrying pigs’-wash. ALLEGED BOBBERY.
Two men named Walsh and Smith were remanded to-day on a charge of garotting and robbing a man in Madras street last night. THE DISCOVERY. The Antarctic vessel Discovery wa3 placed in dock at Lyttelton to-day for cleaning and recaulking. As the vessel can take only 60 of the 200 sheep offered, a ballot was taken to-day among the contributors, and twelve to supply five sheep each were selected.
