The Pukaki.
[By Telegraph—Press Association.] Dunedin, last night.
The Pukaki left Dunedin on Wednesday morning for Westport. At 0.-10 a.m. yesterday morning, she wns observed by tho Te Anau on the way from Lyttelton to Dunedin burning distress signals. _ She was then about SO miles from Taiaroa Pleads, and about ten miles eastward of the usual track of vessels. The Te Anau bore down on her, and at *1 a.m. got her in tow. After a hard pull, on account of •the strong S.S.E. breezo, she brought her into port last night at about nine o’clock. It will not be known what tho actual damage is until the vessel gets into dock to-morrow, but it is supposed to be a breakage of the tail-shaft.
