CONTRACTORS WANT THEIR

MONEY BACK.

(Special to Times.) Wellington, last night.

At the time of the visit of the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall, the Citizens’ Cornxnitteo arranged for a big fireworks’ display from the hulks in the harbor, at a oost of £3OO. There was great disappointment at the result, and in the end tho Display Committee refused to pay. Blackburne and Smith, of Christchurch, the contractors, are suing the Mayor of Wellington and Mr J. P. Luck, Chairman of the Display Committae, for £3OO, the amount of their tender. Defendants allege that the terms of the contract were not carried out, and they’ have deposited £l5O in satisfaction of tho claim. Tho caso will come before tho Supreme Court in a few days.
