WATER AND DRAINAGE.
PREPARATIONS FOR THE POLL. At the meeting of the Borough Council last night Or Jones asked what was the reason for tho delay in advertising the poll in regard to the water and drainage scheme. The Mayor said the matter had been referred to the Borough solicitor, as decided by the Council, but he had found one or two knotty points required attending to before the proposal could be submitted in proper form. Cv Jones said he assumed that as soon as that was done the advertisement would be published without tho delay of bringing it again before the Council. The Mayor: It will come before the Council again before anything more is done.
Cr Miller: I understood that the advertisement was to be published as soon as the solicitor had it ready. The Mayor: That was not my understanding. Cr Miller: We have surely had enough of it.
The Mayor (laughing): You will have a great deal more of it yet. Cr Lysnar: Let it go before the ratepayers as soon as it is finished. Cr Bright thought it would be wise for the Council to see it when it was ready, as there was sure to be some “ barracking.”
The Mayor : Well, it will come before the Council.
Cr Jones: That will mean another ten or twelve days wasted. The Mayor : It will not be wasted.
