SUPREME COURT.

THE ARIADNE CASE. [By Telegraph—Press Association.) Christchurch, last night. _ At the Supreme Court criminal sittings Stanley Dale, for burglary at Kaiapoi, was sentenced to eighteen months’ imprisonment. W. L. Batt was found not guilty on a charge of horse stealing. The Ariadne case will come up at the present session of the Supreme Court only for the purpose of obtaining, an adjournment. Mr Stringer, Crown Prosecutor, will apply to have the date of trial fixed for December 18th next, in order that more over-sea witnesses can be brought to New Zealand in the meantime.
