Most of tho prisoners ,-ho escaped from gaol in Kansas, after overpowering the guard, have been recaptured. Some were shot dead, refusing to surrender. Paris, Nov. 10. M. Santos-Dumont, tho xronaut, has handed the Doutsch prize to a committee for distribution amongst the Paris poor, to redeem their clothes and tools from tho pawnshops. A French loan of two hundred and ten million francs lias boon issued. Melbourne, Nov. 11. The first business of tho Federal House to-morrow will be Mr Barton's resolutions in regard to taking over New Guinea. The threatened stoppage of Tattersall’s sweeps under the Postal Bill had the eftect of largely increasing the business. Over twelve thousand more letters wore received than last year. The Williamstown Cup resulted : Flagship 1, Fairyland 2, Cluster 3, Tho winner was favorite at 5 to 2 against. There were ten starters. Flagship won by a length. Time 2.24. Sydney, Nov. 11. The wcathor was fine throughout tho Commonwealth holiday, which was generally observed. Perth, Nov. 11. In consequence of the censure motion having been carried, Mr Leako had an interview with tho Governor on Saturday, and makes a statement to tho -House on Tuesday. It is understood that he does not seek a dissolution, but has recommended His Excellenoy to send for Mr Piesse.
The Federal Government cabled birthday congratulations to the King. An appreciative reply was received. G. W. Sims, of the Melbourne Club, won the bowling championship of Australasia.
