MCKENZIE MEMORIAL.

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) Wellington, last night. The McKenzie Memorial Committee met to-day and decided to erect a cairn on Puketoitoi, a high hill on the late Sir John McKenzie’s estate at Heathfieji, and to place the procuring of a marble" bust for Ihe Parliamentary Library in the hands of the Agent-General in London. The treasurer reported that the subscriptions to date totalled £540, and that there were twenty-three subscription lists outstanding. The Hons. Lee-Smith and Bigg and Messrs Thomas McKenzie and E. G. Allen were appointed a sub-committee to carry out the works proposed. It was explained that- the proposal to erect a cairn on Pukctapu was abandoned owing to prohibitive terms and conditions being asked for by the owner of the land.
