All the fma! acceptors started. Betting: 10 tod against Revenue, •'! to 1 San Fran. A good start was effected, and passing the judge’s box for the tirst time Rockleigh was in the lead, followed by Wakeful Jlymettus, Rock Gun, and Revenue. About the far side Rockleigh had six lengths' lead, but soon died away. Then Flagship and Khaki rushed to the front, and led Wakeful, Hymettus, Gauleon. Seaport, Revenue, George Frederick, Acetine, Grasspan, and Australian Colors. After passing the abattoirs, Khaki took charge, with Revenue handy, and Wakeful and San Fran two lengths away. As the horses swept into the straight Khaki was on tin: inside running, with Revenue on ! the outside, and San Fran in the centre, I the two being well together. AUCKLAND RACING CLUB’S j SPRING MEETING.

i Special to Turns.,i Auckland, last night. There is a large influx of visitors into town, including many Gisbomiles, fur the Vurki.md Pacing Club’s Spring Meeting, which commences to-morrow. Excellent acceptances have been received, and some good racing should be witnessed. The President's Handicap is the tirst event to be decided, for which there is a round dozen still left in. Highlander and Donnyhruok have not '.ionic under my notice, hut the better of the pair or Both may run well. 1 liked i’okomoko better last week than I do now. Si) far as the Ellerslie trained lot are concerned the race looks open, but 1 should not bo surprised to see Goitsir hailed the winner, and as a shot in the dark 1 name Donnyhrook as not unlikoiy on past form to be the most troublesome.

The Great Northern Guitu'as will witness it field of at least live at the past, if Scotty is not ijnite so forward as Nonette, Ids stable companion, he is in fair form, and there is little improvement to be worked in Sparldino Water. Glasgow lias done a lot of work too. Seasonable reasons may prevent San Patriea being seen at her best to-morrow, but that she is a good little lllly there is no doubt. She beat Nonette on the only occasion they have met, hut 1 think Nonette will turn the tables on her to-morrow and win, and 1 quite expect Sparkling Water to run the best race of her life. 1 place them thus : Nonette 1, San l’atrica 2. The Welcome Stakes will be robbed of the presence of the Avondale Stakes winner, Grey Seaton, who has injured one of his hind legs. The stable will, however, have a good representative to fall hack upon in Northumberland, who has been doing good work for some time, .spalpeen has been galloping well, but- is very fretful again. My choice rests between Northumberland and Idas, and to try and pick it in one I name Idas. The Handicap Ilnrdle race should produce an interesting contest between Cavaliero and Regalia, and the top weight, who is very well just now, may prevail. In the Shorts Handicap, there arc thirteen engaged, and a number of them have been doing fast gallops at headquarters. Zealous, Lady Avon, and Solo have been responsible for the most taking work perhaps, but 1 have a fancy that Takapuna may score, and next to Takapuna 1 like Zealous. The City Handicap will, I think, produce a capital race. 1 have not seen Bluejacket, Bcdditigton, St. Ursula, and St. Olga so well as they are just now. Each can be depended upon to make a bold bid for the price. Val Kjsa is in capital trim, and is likely to start favorite, but he will have to do something good to win. He won at Avondale Spring .Meeting ever a mile so handily that 1 feel iuclmod to trust him to account tor the he will meet to-morrow, but I am not over-sanguine about him. as he i-us not done such strong preparation as seme of them. However, as I have to make a selection, I name Val Rosa to win. m : Bcdditigton and St. Ursula to tight the finish with him. The l’onv Mace may not unlikely result it a tine race. Orange and Blue knocked one of her shins on Saturday, and it is possible may not be started, but should she go to the post will take some beating. Stepawsy has shown some improvement lately, and if trusted in preference to St. Loauda. may win. 1 have most respect for Winsome and Doctor in the Flying Handicap. Gisboruites no doubt will have a confident opinion as to Tauhei's chances. Here we are doubtful. Your readers ought to know as much as I do about this mare.
