The closing days of session tind some members of Par’ men: far from wearied; they are figb with great vim for increased puyim. to themselves—a payment that was no . or submitted for the approval of the electors. Whilst some members arc so determined to seize the increased pay, others are as determinedly resisting the march on the Treasury, and the minority have been making a gallant tight of it.

To get even with those who resisted the payment, a motion was proposed to the effect that the increased pay be given to only those who signed a declaration which would really make a distinction between those who supported the payment and those who on principle had opposed it. An amendment by Mr Atkinson that the second reading of the Bill he postponed for six months was lost by 31 to do, ami the second reading carried by 30 to do. The following is the division list on the amendment:—

The stonewall was carried on until after the dinner adjournment to-night, and eventually, after a good fight, the minority were beaten down, and now members can make sure of obtaining the extra pay which they so eagerly voted to themselves. .
