POP ELATION. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Wellington, last night. During the month of September 1521 persons arrived in the colony, and 937 took their departure. LABOR DISPUTE. The Conciliation Board to-day announced its recommendation in the brick aui pottery makers’ dispute. It proposes that a week’s work for expert burners shall consist of 40.1 hours, wages to be Is 3d, for assistants Is Old. and laborers Is per hour; that boys "be allowed in this class in the proportion of one to three men. THE RETRENCHED INSPECTOR. At to-day’s meeting of the Education Board the Chairman announced that lie had been unable to obtain the services of anyone to conduct an enquiry into the statements made concerning the Board by Mr Lee, Chief Inspector. Further consideration of the position in which the Board now finds itself in connection with this matter was postponed until the next meeting.
