A case of importance to cyclists came before Mr l.’arew, S.AI. At Outram in June last, as a man was walking along tlie road ho was struck on the side and knocked down by u cyclist. He has only just been able to resume work, and he claimed X'JS damages from the cyclist who caused the accident. For tlie defence it was contended that the cy list was oil the right side, and that it was not obligatory to carry a light. Mr Cavow held that tho rule of the road was not applicable in the case of pedestrians. It was the duty of a cyclist to avoid foot passengers. He gave judgment for X’oO and costs.
