INAUGURAL MEETING.

Thk inaugural meet ; of the Poverty Bay Cricket Assoc-iutio: -nder the district scheme, was held a! th. Masonic Hotel last evening, and u .is . idea by the following delegates :—Me - W. Macdonald, Hon. See. (City). Mr Gumming apologised for the absence of the President (Mr J. W. Nolan), who , was absent from town. The- first question was that of de-fining the boundaries, and, after discussion, they were settled as follows : County. —All that district outside the I Taruhc-ru Freezing Works, to include Makaraka, Makauri. Te Aral, Patutahi, i Kanginui, Ortnor.d, and Waimata (from j Nock's corner to Wc-thered’s). L MTitn. — Whataupoko and Haiti. City.—Boundary as denned by the Jtugby Union. West Emj.— As defined by the liugby Lnion, including Taruhet-u Freezing Works. The matter of funds was then dealt with, and it was unanimously decided to adopt the recommendation of the various town c-luhs—viz. : - That all subscrip

Any stranger arriving in the district to be duly passed by tlie Association, and his subscription to be payable forthwith. The annual subscription was fixed at 10s (id for senior members and 5s for juniors (all players under 18 to be classified as

juniors.) The secretary of each ciub to be required to hand all names in by the —h>th inst., players residing within the district from tiie 14th inst. to qualify.

j The Secretary was instructed to write the_ Poverty Bay llugby Union, asking their permission to play" on the Victoria Domain for the season. Following the custom, the old time, fixture, Town v. Country, was arranged for Saturday, the '2oth inst. (following the Show), and Messrs Casar and Crawford were appointed a committee to choose the country team. It was decided to open the season for I tlie cup matches on Thursday, the 81stinst., and the draw for fixtures resulted :

Saturday matches were then drawn for, and the following fixtures were made :

November 2nd : United v. County City v. Wes t End November <Jth (At Ormond). City v. County

A lengthy discussion then ensued upon the question of putting the pitch and outon the Victoria Domain into good playing order, and members were unanimously of opinion that the services of a first-class man should he obtained, who would be able to devote time and skill to that purpose. Messrs Miller, Colo, and Hawkins were appointed a sub-committee to act in the matter, with full power to engage a man.

Consequent upon the Union taking over the control of all gear, Messrs Macdonald. Cole, and Howland were elected a Gear Committee.

The following gentlemen were then unanimously elected Vice-Presidents of the Association: —Messrs W. Douglas Eysn-.u- (Whataupoko), C. I’. Davies (Haiti), J. A. Harding (City), and James Macfarlanc (West End). The County team will nominate after their meeting. After a general discussion relative to cricket topics, a hearty vote of thanks to the chairman concluded what was unanimously declared to be a most useful and enthusiastic meeting.
