The Farmers’ Union.
A PROTEST FROM CHEVIOT SETTLERS.
By Telegraph—Press Association
Christchurch, last night. At a meeting, attended by over a hundred settlers at Cheviot, on Saturday night, the following resolutions were carried, “ That this meeting of Cheviot settlers wishes to record its protest against the uncalled for interference of Canterbury's section of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union with regard to the rebates given by the Government to the Crown tenants. This exhibit of hostility towards a section of the farming community clearly points out that the Union is not being run in the interests of all the farmers ; “ That this meeting of Cheviot settlers protest against New Zealand Farmers’ Union interfering with the land for settlement policy of the Government.”
