ADAIR BROS.' GASLIGHT DISPLAY.
With their usual energy and enterprise Messrs Adair Bros.’ went to considerable trouble in preparing for last evening a gaslight display of their new season's goods, and the universal opinion of the crowds who witnessed it was that it cclipsod all former efforts of tho firm. The display was most tastefully and artistically carried out, and could not have been surpassed by any of the leading houses in the larger towns. The view from Gladstone Road of the front windows was most picturesque, and tho thousand and one beauties for ladies’ adornment must have appealed most strongly to the artistic instinct of the fair sex. In the front windows silks of the finest quality were shown in great variety, whilst dainty muslins wore pleasingly arranged in n manner to attract the attention of the spectators. Laces, tischus, etc., were to ho seen in grand assortment, whilst the brilliant manner in which the windows were illuminated showed everything to advantage. The dressing of the windows was arranged by Mr J. Adair, who is to bo complimented on the successful nature of the display. Another attractive feature of last evening’s illuminations was the firm’s show-room, a view of which could be obtained from Lowe street. Here was to ho seen a great collection of hats, bonnets, blouses, summer shades, etc., which were displayed in a most artistic way, the general effect from the street being exceedingly pretty. The arrangements in regard to the show room wore carried out under the supervision of Miss Neal, and that lady must have been highly pleased with the comments made in regard to the display by the hundreds who were attracted by it. Messrs Adair Bros, carry a large and extensive stock, as is evidenced by the splendid display made last evening. Their shipments of new season's goods should enable them to cope with the requirements of ladies in need of .articles of spring and slimmer wear. During the evening a number of musical selections were given on a loud-sounding gramaphone, and the items, which were of a popular character, were much appreciated.
