That Isolation Ward.

(To the Editor of the Times.)

Sir, —Does it not strike you as very humorous how the different bodies get mixed up over this isolation ward business ? The Borough Council ask the Hospital Trustees to allow a ward to be erected on their grounds. Two of the Councillors sit with the Trustees, and veto the request. Then the Council applies again, and forming itself into a Charitable Aid Board backs up its request as a Council. The Trustees, in the words of the maiden in Longfellow’s poem, say “ Why don’t you speak for yourself, John?” and decline to accede to the Council’s request, but willingly accept that of the Charitable Aid Board. The question is, Where are we now?— l am, etc.. Humorist.
