Wellington, last night. Tho hearing of tho evidence in connection with complaints concerning the delay of the Health Officer in granting partique to the Monowai from Sydney concluded to-day, before Mr Haselden, S.M., Commissioner. In his evidence, the Health Officer for the port defended his action in leaving tho vessel before granting a clearance by tho fact that one of tho passengers had refused to come on deck after being sent for. He thought it necessary to take such a step in order to convince the ship’s officers that it was their duty to produce every person on board.
