The llouso met at 2.30 p.m. The breach of privilege committed by the Dunedin Star was further considered. Mr McGowan’s motion to amend tho Premier's resolution by striking out tho words declaring that the expression of regret made by Mr A. E. Cohen bo accepted by tho llouso “ as satisfactory ” was agreed to on the voices. Mr Hall-Joncs then moved to furthor amend the Premier’s motion to provide that upon payment of £ls tho llouso proceed no furthor in the matter. This gavo rise to another long debate, which was interrupted by the 5.30 adjournment. EVENING SITTING. Tho House resumed at 7.30 p.m. Consideration of the breach of privilego case again occupied t ie whole evening. Mr Lang moved an amendment that the words “accept letter of Mr Cohen” bo substituted for the words “ accept expression of regret.” This was negatived by 35 to 21. Mr Hall-Jones’ amendment, that on payment oi £ls the llouso proceed no further in the matter, was carried by 35 to 19.

Air G. J. Smith then moved a further amendment that the fine be paid by Mr J. Aloody, publisher of the Dunedin Star, within seven days from date. The Premier opposed this amendment, as it was not desired to cast reflection on anyone in particular.
