On the motion of the Minister of Education, the Council unanimously passed a resolution assorting its detestation and horror at the attempted assassination of President McKinley. The Physical Drill in Public and Native Seiioolss Bill passed through Committee witnout material amendment. Tho Hon. A. Pitt moved the second reading of the Cigarette Smoking by Youths Prohibitisn Bill. Several Councillors objected to the punishment of whipping being inflicted for a third offence. Mr Fcldwiek moved a hostile amendmont that the Bill be read a second time that day three months. The debato was adjourned,
