HOLY TRINITY CHURCH.
RESIGNATION OF REV. CANO! WEBB.
At the close of the vestry meeting at the Holy Trinity* Church last evening the Rev. Canon Webb informed tho members that, acting on the advice of his medical advisers, lie had decided to resign his position as incumbent of the parish. Both Drs. Hughes anil Fisher, whom ho had consulted, had advised him as to the necessity of taking this course, as his parochial duties were likely to prove too great a strain upon him.
The announcement came as a great surprise to members of tho vestry, and general regret was expressed at" Canon Webb’s resignation. Mr W. Gaudin said that ho sincerely regretted to hear that Canon Webb had been compelled to resign his position on account of ill health, and ho was sure tho whole of the vestry were of a like opin ion. The rev. gentleman had been connected with tho church for somo years, and it must be very satisfactory to him to see it clear of debt. The parishioners would have difficulty in ffnding a more sincere and earnest minister, and it was mainly to Canon Webb’s efforts that the church had cleared itself of its liabilities. Ho proposed the following resolution ; “ The vestry desire to plaeo on record their appreciation of tho services rendered by tho Rev. Canon Webb, and deeply regret that owing to ill health he has been compelled to resign his position.” Mr F. T. Morgan seconded tho resolution, and in doing so, paid a high tribute to the earnest and faithful service which Canon Webb had rendered.
Captain Ferris, who for many years acted as Parishioners’ Warden, expressed regret to hear of Canon Webb’s intentions to resign. During tho time he had been connected with the Holy Trinity Church, he had found Canon Webb most attentive to his duties, which had been carried out in a sincere and earnest manner.
Other members having spoken, tho resolution was unanimously adopted.
