The Mail Robbery.

A NICE HAUL. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Sydney, Sept. 3. The mail robber made a rich haul. The oxaet amount is not known, but it is estimated at from nine to fourteen hundred pounds in notes, and five hundred pounds of opals and jowollory. The loot included three parcels of opals. There is- no bank at White Cliffs, necessitating the forwarding of large amounts by post. An attempt was made to rob the mail some time ago, but failed. The robber allowed the passengers to go scot free. One carried a largo sum. Banter, after ho was shot, expecting to bo overhauled, hid a bag containing twenty pounds in a horse’s harness, and it remained unnoticed. Pedraua, driver of the coach, has been arrested on suspicion of being connected with the robbery. He was acting as a substitute for the regular diivcr. CONCEALING THE TBACKS. By Telegraph—Pross Assooiaiton— Copyright Sydney, Sept. 3. The robber's bicycle was traced back to Whitecliffs. There ho had dismounted on to a verandah. Then ho had evidently shouldered the bicycle and hid the tracks. The bicyclist who came while the robbery was proceeding has been detained by the police. A lady passenger was allowed to remain on the box seat, with dress and rug covering the boot of the couch containing parcels of opals.
