RETRENCHMENT.
A SCHOOL COMMITTEE’S PIQUE,
[By Telegraph—Press Association.] |Ncw Plymouth, last night,
In consequence of the Education Board deciding to place the town school committee on the same footing as regards capitation as the country committees the town committee to-night decided to give notice to tho cleaners of the schools to dispense with their services, throwing the onus of cleaning the schools on the Board. The town committee had been receiving seven shillings per head, less five per cent., and tho country committees four and sixpeneo.
