ACCIDENTAL DROWNING.
(By Telegraph—-Press Association.) Wellington, last night. At tho inquost on the body of Mary Macdonald, a verdict was returned of accidental drowning. RAILWAY HANDS.
It is stated that a ballot of the railway men of the colon/ will be takon this week to decide whether they should be brought under the provisions of tho Conciliation and Arbitration Act. STATE FARMING.
The Agricultural Department has completed the purchase of 780 acres adjoining the experimental farm at Wairangi, in Waikato, thus increasing the area of its estate there to about 2500 acres. The land which has just been taken over belonged to tho estate of the lato Mr William Aitken, of Auckland. A portion of it will bo devoted to fruit culture. Tho department is gratified at tho results of its fruit-growing experiments in the district.
