ARRIVAL OF TIIE NEW SOUTH WALES TEAM.

By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, last night. The New South Wales football team (25! were on board the Talune, which arrived this morning from Sydney, and were warmly welcomed. The Wellington team to play against New South Wales on Saturday will be : Wrigley, Rowe, Wallace, Slattery, Wood, Meredith, Munson, Kelly, Watkins, Dodd, Adams, Skilton, O'Brien, McAnally, Gallagher. The New South Wales football team were formally welcomed at the Council Chambers by the Hon. .T. Carroll, on behalf of the Ministry, and the Mayor, on behalf of the city. Mr Field, M.H.R., and Mr Campbell also spoke. The latter mentioned with approval that both Unions hud decided that tho training and discipline of teams in future should not be interfered with by indiscriminate banqueting. Mr Henderson, the manager of the visitors, i:i reply, said lie regretted that a number of the best men were unable to make the trip, but they would find tho team would give a good account of themselves. Alluding to tho English team that visited Australia recently, lie explained that being mostly students and professional men, they could not get extended leave to enable thorn to visit New Zealand. From what lie saw of them, he had no doubt that New Zealand could easily have hold its own, strong players though the Englishmen were. Respecting the proposal to hold a conference re rules, this was approved in Australia, but it should take place in tho off soason.
