Lamb, prime Canterbury, is at 4 7-8 d; fair average (including Dunedin, Southland, Wellington, and secondary Canterbury), 4 9-16 d. River Plate, light and heavy, 2 5-Bd. New Zealand beef is unchanged in price. Wellington, last night. The Agent-General’s commercial telegram dated London, August 3rd, states: • —“ The average prices to-day are : Canterbury mutton, 3 3-8 d; Dunedin and Southland, SJd ; North Island, 2Jd. The market is dull, and there is scarcely any demand. New Zealand lamb, Canterbury, 4}d ; brands other than Canterbu 44d; market depressed and dull of sale for heavy carcases. Supplies of homegrown lambs are heavy, and are lowering the prices of New Zealand. Beef, hinds 3;jd, fores 2d; market very dull; scarcely any demand for fores. Supplies of of American chilled beef are large. Hemp

firm; good fair Wellington, spot, ,£26. There is a stock of 246 tons, against 1357 last year. Fair current Manila, £o‘2; signs of improvement in prices. Russian shipments have been heavy. Prospects for next season are encouraging. A better demand for cheese.
