Two Opponents.
(To the Editor of the Times ) Sir, — Wc have now two pronounced opponents of a water supply for Gisborne, Crs Lysnar and Whinray, and it is not at all certain that there are not other Councillors pulling in the same boat. Councillor Lysnar, apparently, is the engineer, and Cr Whjnray the chief medical adviser, and the doctor is somewhat of a croaker—his knowledge of frogs is sublime. A nice prospect Whataupoko amalgamation has at the hands of the gentleman who signed the requisition to obtain Mr Mestayer, and then makes it a special hobby to try and bring about the rejection of the scheme. It is merely waste time for the Council to consider amalgamation now. “Not a hope,” is the yeia.cj; which Mr Lysnar must take before he goes further. ! We are happy and contented enough with a competent engineer as our Lord Mayor, and will accept neither Mr Lysnar’s engineering views, nor his financial proposals which wid enable us to participate in water, drainage, etc., for less than the Borough now pays when it has not yet beeu ablo to form Lowe street.—l am, etc., Asti-Enteric.
