WELLINGTON NEWS.
A SOLDIER’S DEATH. (I3y Telegraph—Press Association.) Wellington, last night. Advice has been received that George Fisher, son of Mr George Fisher, M.H.R., and a member of the Kaffiarian Rifles, was killed at Watervaal on May 20th. BIRD FANCIERS. At the suggestion of the Wellington Society a conference of delegates of poultry societies was held hero, when it was resolved that a New Zealand Poultry. Pigeon, and Canary Association be formed. A Provisional Committee was set up to draft rules, and report to another meeting. DEATH OF A GIRL. Tho body of a girl found in the harbor this morning was identified to-night as that of Maggie Yates, of Kaiwarra, aged 17 years. She left her home on Wednesday to go to service in tho city, but her subsequent movements have not been ascertained.
