THE TIMES AND ROYALTY.

THE DUKE’S THANKS. The proprietors of the Gisborne Times have received an appreciative letter from Sir Arthur Biggs, Private Secretary to the Duke. That gentleman states he has been desired to express the thanks of His Royal Highness the Duke of York and Cornwall for copies of the Gisborne Times. His Royal Highness intends to retain the copies of the journal as pleasing mementos of his visit to New Zealand, and especially in regard to that interesting portion in which the Times is published, but which he was not able to visit.

It will be remembered that at the beginning of the year the proprietors of the Gisborne Times received a kindly letter of congratulation from tho Hon. E. Barton, the Premierof the Commonwealth, and the letter from tho Duke is peculiarly appropriate from the fact that His Royal Highness came to the colony specially to open the Commonwealth Parliament.
