Borough Council Finances.
(To the Editor of the Times.) Sir, —A statement of the borough funds has been published showing that after rates levied for last year have all been collected the borough is in debt .£2671 4s 4d, 12680 12s 5d more than it was at the beginning of the financial year. This fact shows that the previously existing rates levied by the Borough Council are not . sufficient to pay . the way. In face of this, with the extra expenses of beautifying, sanitary, water, drainage, abbattoir, and other expenses, to say nothing of roads, footpaths, lighting, and such necessities, it might be as well to remind Councillors of the useful old saying that “It is well to cut your coat according to your cloth.” —I .am, etc., Ratepayer.
