AFFAIRS IN THE CITY. By Telegraph—Press Association. . Christchurch, last night. The Christchurch City Council this evening adopted the report of the I’ inanco Committee recommending a loan of seventeen thousand. Fourteen thousand will bo devoted to destructor and destroying rubbish generally. The remainder wHI be applied to sanitarv work connected with the sealed pan system. The Mayor has announced that the Council's income will have to be increased by means of a special rate. Mr Hay, Civil Engineer, has been appointed by the City Council to make a special report on a scheme to utilize the AVaimakariri River for power purposes. ' The Christchurch City Council has decided to call tenders for hands to play in the rotunda during the winter months.
