[By Telegraph--Press Association.] Wellington, May 7. Tho Postal Department states that the Ventura’s trip lias not beaten all previous records, as claimed. Her steaming timo was 429 hours, whoreas the Sierra has done the voyage in 411 hours. [Special to Times.] Auckland, last night. The inward ’Frisco mail -steamer Vontura arrived last night from San Francisco, via Honolulu and Pagopago, after a passage, including stoppages, of 17 days 10 hours 52 minutes, tho actual steaming time being 16 days 11 hours 9 minutes, this being 2 hours and 50 minutos longor than tho record passago—that of tho Sierra on her last trip. Tho vessel arrived at 8.30 p.m., and after medical inspection, which dolayed her nearly two hours, was berthed at the Quoen Street wharf at 10.20 p.m. Tho work of discharging cargo was then gone on with, and the Ventura resumed her voyago to Sydney to-day.
