Tho Boers generally are suffering from the extreme cold and deficient commissariat. There are six thousand Boev refugees in the concentration camp at Potehefstroom. Tho British are depasturing great numbers of captured stock in Zulula ud. Details of the fighting at Marlalatine show that Nkongeniuek commanded tho’ highway with the enemy’s vanguard. The British oxpelled them before daylight. The Boers, imagining in tho darkness that tho British were numerous, retreated, leaving a strong fighting rearguard. The garrison of Zeorust is still being blockaded. On April 29th they captured a supply of fresh meat. In tho Houso of Commons, Mr Brodriek, referring to Colvillo’s recently-pub-lished despatch dealing with tho attack on Cronje’s laager at Paadesbcrg, said that General Kelly-Kenny commanded on March 18th of last year, on tho date mentioned by Colville, Kitchener assisting Kenny. The control of the action, Mr Brodrick also stated, was owing to tho prolongation of tho war. The allowances for the wives of soldiors serving in South Africa is fiftconpeucc per day. Scvoral farmers liavo been sentenced at Colesburg to terms of from six to twelve months’ imprisonment for misleading British troops and not reporting the enemy. Casualties to the Victorian Bushmen aro Scrgt. Hurst and Corporal Gobcll, killed ; Private Clay, severoly wounded ; Zuursfontein Mounted Rifles—Sergeant Werill, dangerously wounded.
