THREATENED DEMONSTRATION OF POVERTY. By 'Holograph—Press Association—Copyright Sydney, April 30. Following the example of their Melbourne brethren, the unemployed threaten to make a demonstration of their poverty before the Duke. The Minister of Public Works, replying to the deputation, said that it would he an idle demonstration, which would get no good, and only divert public sympathy. Brisbane, April 30.
The Afunicipal Council proposed to spend £4060 in decorations on the occasion of tho Duke of York’s visit. Bradford, the well-known labor advocate, has issued a writ seeking an injunction to restrain such unlawful expenditure.
