A TANTALISING AFFAIR.

(By Telegraph—-Press Association.) Dunedin, last night. The Mayor had a long conference with Lord Ranfurly, and submitted the suggested programme of events for the visit of the Duke and Duchess of Cornwalls. The programme was considerably curtailed, but he will not open the Winter Show, and there are many difficulties to overcome before His Excellency can approve of his laying the foundation stone Of the Queen’s Statue. A volunteer review at Forbury is out of the question, and the proposal that the Duchess should name a cot in the children’s ward at the Hospital was ruled out. It is not at all certain whether the Royal party will corno overland or by steamer.
