CONCILIATION BOARD.
I RON MO U LD.15.1i S’ UNION AND EMPLOYEES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Auckland, last night. A meeting of the Conciliation Board was held yesterday to receive the report of the representatives of the Iromuouldcrs’ Union with respect to the clause re indenturing apprentices, which was objected to by the employers, and also the matter of leaving out the word “ competent ” in the clause in reference to Unionists. Mr Rosser said the points had been duly considered by the Union, and it was decided that the Union could not give wav, as it was felt apprentices should be indentured, and the retention of the word “competence” was the only safeguard the Union had in respect to members to be admitted.
Mr Masefield said that at the meeting of employers it was decided that if those points were not conceded the whole matter should be taken to the Court of Arbitration. The Chairman said that the Board would file a recommendation at once.
