DEATH OF MR T. B. MARSHALL. [By Telegraph—Press Association.] N apior, last night. News has been received of the death, at Sydney, of Mr T. B. Marshall, road surveyor to tho Government in this district. Deceased was well known in Wellington and the South Island. OWNERSHIP OF JADOO.
At a meeting of the stewards of the Napier Park Racing Club a letter was read from Mr C. o‘Donoghuc, owner of Derringcotte, asking that tho stakes in the Bennett Memorial Stakes be held over, pending enquiry into tho ownership of Jadoo, the winner of that race, and alleging that Jadoo was wrongly nominated. It was decided that a reply bo sent that Jadoo was nominated by her owner, Mr M. Kaiwhata, and that the stewards have no information of any other ownership. A SAD AFFAIR. ' A man named Henry Hughes, roadman at Pukctitiri, died in Napier Hospital last night from a smashed leg, caused by a falling log pinning him while working in the river.. Deceased leaves a wife and -family.
