AUCKLAND SPECIAL.

ASSEMBLAGE OF NATIVES. (Special to Times.) Auckland, last night. The Native Minister reports that 200 Maoris from Wanganui will take part in the festivities at Rotorua in connection with the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall’s visit. EASTER RACES. One hundred and five homes are busily engaged at Ellerslie in anticipation of the race meeting which commences on Easter Monday. The bookmakers commenced laying the’double on the Easter Handicap and big hurdles this week. Rosclla for the Easter Handicap and Tim for the big hurdles are my fancies. A Gisborne sporting gentleman residing in Auckland accepted this double at 30 to 10. He stands to win £SOO. Cavaliero will be a most dangerous one in the hurdle event. He has been dealt very leniently with by the handicap per, notwithstanding that he is the top weight. He is to carry 12.7, whereas he won his last race at Christchurch, carrying over 18 stone.

ON THE TRACK. This morning St. Paul and St. Peter . were amongst the first to work, and assisted by the Gisborne-owned pony, Ivan, they galloped a mile and a half in company at a sound gallop, St. Peter appearing to stay at his task the better of the pair, Seahorse, who in company with Zealous galloped a mile yesterday afternoon, went twice round, doing a useful working gallop. St. Ursula, alone, covered the best part of a mile, coming homo the last fire furlongs at her host pace. Delia Rose showed to greater advantage than Crusade over five furlongs. Lactitia and Bcddington were companions over a little short of a mile and a quarter, both hitting out freely, and finishing up strongly. Freewill and Tim led Tarragon almost throughout a souud-pacc gallop of over a circuit. Cannongatc, who was put over the jumps yesterday afternoon in company with Lieutenant, performed a light task. Bluejacket galloped the last seven furlongs of a circuit at his best pace, finishing the journey in good style. The Needle and Dayntree ran a mile, both going well. Hongist and La Gloria sprinted three furlongs down the straight, then cantered round the track and repeated the performance. Nonetto led Kissalino over the four furlongs, and The Slave led Mamoa by two lengths to the end of a six-furlong spin. Trcsham and Norton’s brother ran strongly over half a mile. Ilohoro galloped a mile, starting at throe-quarter pace, and having Sparkling Water as a companion over the last six furlongs. Hohoro easily accounted for the filly, which, however, carried a fair weight, and "appeared to gallop well. Hohoro is still sore, but the going was to his liking. Formula travelled merrily over five furlongs alone. Boreas cantered. A large number of others worked more or less soundly, Rosella, Hastings, and Cavaliero being of the number. After breakfast a few interesting gallops were recorded on the grass. Balbirnio covered a mile at a good sound pace, and Jim Kean was seen to advantage oyer the same distance. Paul Seaton and St Olga ran over six furlongs in company. Fayona and Marksman were then put together on the course proper, and raced a mile and a half over hurdles, Favona going the better of the pair for tho greater part of the distance. Tuirno and Auld Reekie also had a turn over the same obstacles, Tuirno going the better of the pair.' Franks and the Captain Webb—Princess Helena gcld- , ing joined in the last five furlongs. Rex, who seemed very fresh, was set au easy task.
