HIGH SCHOOL BOARD OF

GOVERNORS,

The annual meeting of the Board was held yesterday, there being present:—Messrs Morgan ’ (Chairman), DeLautour, Coleman, Johnston, and Warren. . Official declarations were received that Mr Morgan had been appointed for the Borough Council, Mr Warren for the County, and Mr Johnston by His Excellency the Governor. Mr Johnston proposed, and Mr Coleman seconded, that Mr Morgan be reelected Chairman. “We cannot have a betterhnau for tho position,” said Mr Coleman, no one takes a greater interest in the Board.”

Mr DeLautour supported the motion, saying that they could not do wrong in selecting Mr Morgan, who was a slave to the interests of the Hoard ever siuce ho had accepted the office, and norv that he was no longer Chairman of the School Committee it seemed an additional reason why. his services should be retained as long as possible. The motion was put by Mr DeLautour and carried.

In returning thanks, Mr Morgan said that he would in the future as in the past apply himself as well as he could to the duties of the position. The general statement of the accounts showed that .£7 6s lid was in the Savings Bank in the previous year; ASO was derived from income from reserves, and there was .£lsl 17s 6d interest on moneys

invested and on upaid purchase money ; £1 4s 2d had been received from interest on deposit account in Savings Bank; and there was ,£l5O under flic heading of principal,repaid, making a total of 41390 8s 7d. The expenditure side showed that at the begiuning of the year there w r as a debit balance of .£95 6s 5d at the Union Bank ; £9l Gs had been expended on scholarships, .£2 on printing, stationery, and advertising, AT Cs 3d interest on current account, 10s bank charge, .£lB 19s 8d on furniture, and the sum of JGI6S lGs 7d was paid through the Education Board as subsidy (salaiy); the halance at the end of the year was £ll2 3s Sd, making the total £390 Ss 7d.

The meeting then adjourned, the concluding business being deferred to a later meeting.
