[Special to Times.] Napier, last night. The Hawke's Bay Education Board mot to-day, when the following business was transacted: — GISBORNE. B. Johnston has been appointed pupil teacher. A subsidy, at tho rate of pound for pound, was granted for asphalting, the total cost not to exceed .£4O. MATAWHERO. Miss Stephenson has been appointed assistant mistress. ORMOND. The application of Mr Jardinc for nine months’ leave was granted. The erection of a residence is to bo given preference in October. TK ARM. An application for a grant of JM has been held over for Mr Quigley's report. The recommendation was agreed to that Miss Tucker be appointed assistant mistress. WAERENGA-A-lIIK.V. Tenders nre to be called for works recommended by Mr Miller. WAII’IHO. Tho inspector is to visit the school in March, and roport as to the position of the mistress in regard to examinations. GENERAL BUSINESS. It was decided to notify all committees that tho Board will not confirm thcleasing or letting of teachers' residences. It was decided to admit the principle of uniformity of school books in reading, writing, arithmetic, and geography, subject to a triennial revision. A selection conunittco was appointed to consider details.

Napier, last night,

At a mooting of the Ilawkos’ Bay Education Board to-day, it was resolved that with the view of introducing technical education into the Ilawkos' Bay Education District, this Board make application to tho Government for grants of money to enable the Board to erect buildings and supply t he materials for the establishment of technical schools in terms of the Education Act, 1900. An election cominittco was appointed to consult with the Inspector as to tho methods of working tho Act to best advantage in Ilawkcs’ Bay. A motion was carried to make tho school hooks uniform, subject to the list being revised every throo years.
