The Indian Troops.
ARRIVAL IN NELSON,
Per Press Association —Copyright. Nelson, last nigßt. The steamer Dalhousie was berthed at the railway wharf a little before three o’clock this afternoon, when Colonel Peyton and the Indian troops disembarked. Horses were provided, and all the volunteers of the locality were present.' The procession marched to the Cathedral Hill, where tRe school children were grouped, and thence to the Botanical Gardens, where fruit and refreshments i were provided for the visitors. The Mayor, Mr J. Harvey, briefly welcomed the Indians, and the Premier made a short, speech. The whole town was gay with bunting. This evening the officers were entertained at diniicr by the volunteer officers, and tRe remaiding Indians attended the theatre; where a special entertainment was organised for them. ! • .To-morrow. morning they are to be taken into the country.
