This aftornoon’s sittings of tho Supromo Court was occupiod in hearing tho chargo of indecent assault against Patrick Leahy. Tho ovidenco showed that tho man, boiug awaro that tho woman’s husband' was away from homo, obtained admission to tho house, and made improper ovorturos.

Tho jury found aceusod guilty, and ho was sentenced to two yoars’ imprisonment with hard labor.

Judge Edwards, in sentencing the prisoner, said that it was his duty to protoct decent women in their houses from wild beasts, wliethor two-footed or othenviso, and stated that it was his intention of using tho lash in the futuro.
