Mr W. Gray, who was connected with Mr Seymour, watchmaker, for many years, is revisiting Gisborne. Messrs Graham and Gordon Johnstone, two local returned troopers, occupied places of. honor in the" procession yesterday. - i,",'. P
Lieut. Hughes, of Napier, who arrived yesterday mqrning by the Dalhousie, took part in yesterday’s ceremony, and was heartily welcomed by looal residents. Mr A. Thomson was unfortunately unable to leave with the Fire Brigade team on Wednesday, but will follow on Sunday, and will arrive in time to take part in the competitive events.
Trooper Trotter has received a very nice letter from the Commander of tha Forces at Rhenoster’s Kop. “ I was very sorry to"hear'that you wete not going to keep on with us to the end, I should have wired to you at the Cape, and bade 1 God speed ’ to you and others of my gallants who were going back with you, but unfortunately when I came in to Pretoria from commands, I found the Capetown wire down and telegrams going by post, so that they would not catch you. Mauseritis is certainly pot a disease you WilPevei? suffer from, -‘an'cT I ""shall always regret that there was not a Horse handy to you at Roode Kopje that day W.
