MR CARROLL’S GOOD LOOKS AND
ORATORY.
(Special to Times.) Auckland, last night.
In an article published by a local contemporary to-day it acquaints its readers of the fact that the member of the Poverty Bay district, the Hon. James Carroll, is getting a lot of praise on account of his good looks and power of oratory. The journal states that the Hon. James is looked upon as the next best speaker to the Hon. Hon. Alfred Deakm, the oratorial idol of that part of Australia. PRESS APPOINTMENT. Mr J. A. Shaud, the war correspondent, who was recently engaged on the staff of the Gisborne. Times, has been appointed editor of the Thames Advertiser. ORANGE BLOSSOMS. Joe Sceats, the Gisborne jockey, entered into the bonds of matrimony this afternoon. A big entertainment is being given at Newmarket by the racing fraternity. Young Sceats has been the recipient of many: valuable presents from Ms numerous admirers, who do not fail to recognise the Gisborne boy’s brilliant horsemanship.
