CRICKET.
A meeting of the Thursday Cricket Association was held last night. The drawing for the second round of the shield contests took place, and resulted as follows : Feb. 21—Union v. Gisborne A. Feb. 21—Gisborne B v. Allcomers. March 2—Gisborne B v. Union.
April 4 —Gisborne A v. Gisborne B. The match that would ordinarily have fallen on March 7th was put further on in the month, so that it would not clash with the cycling sports to be’held on that day, In view of the intended visit of the Wairoa and Frasertown combined teams, a committee was appointed, consisting of Messrs Hawkins, Tattersall, and Massey, to select a team to represent the Thursday players of the district in the match fixed for "March 14tli. In view of the second round of the Saturday contests, the Gisborne Club will have a practice match at the Victoria Domain this afternoon, commencing at 2 o’clock. If possible the match will be a return game for the match married v. single, played at the beginning of the season. All cricketers are invited to attend and take part in tlie match tills afternoon.
