STOCK SALES.

Messrs Common, Shelton, and Co. and Mr Wyllic held their monthly stock sale at Waerenga-a-hika yesterday. There was a good attendance*! Bidding for all kinds of stock was brisk, and prices were fully maintained. Messrs Common,Shelton, and Co. report that for prime light beef steers 46 was realised, and £5 for medium beef cows'. Heavy-weight cows were passed in at £5 Ids'. Medium cows were at £4 2s 6d ; well bred 2jj-year-old heifers, M 10s; 18 months heifers, 43 'ss; dairy cows, 45 to 45 10s. A lot of two-tooth Lincoln rams, from the flock of Mr Craigo, Otahuhu, near Auckland, elicited keen competition, the pick of two falling to Mr A. McKenzie at 6] guineas. Mr Somerville secured 8 at 4 guinoas and 2 at 2f guineas. Other rams failed to reach the owner’s reserves. Forward Romney crossbred wethers brought 12s. Four-year-old ewes from Ngatapa station brought 11s; 5-year-old Lincoln ewes in low condition brought 9s 3d ; broken-mouth ewes brought 7s to 8s; culls, 4s 6d; cull wethers in low condition, 8s 3d. A line of 1000 2 and 4-tooth wethers just off a long drive from the Coast were passed in, failing to reach the owner’s value.

Messrs Common, Shelton and Co.’s next stock sale will be held on Thursday, 14th March, when they expect to have a still larger entry of both sheep and cattle. . ;''f :•• - - 7■'■' ’ ■ ■■
