TO THE ELECTORS GISBORNE HARBOR DISTRICT. Ladies and Gentlemen, — Having been a representative of the Gisborne Borough on the Harbor Board, I again have the honor to submit myself for your approval for a further term. Believing that this district will progress, I shall, if elected, endeavor to have all moneys spent to best advantage. Hitherto I have always advocated steady progress, and will continue to do so should you do me th honor to again elect me. Yours faithfully, W. H. TUCKER. HARBOR BOARD ELECTION. TO THE RATEPAYERS OF THE BOROUGH OF GISRORNE. and Gentlemen, — In response to the request of many of my fellow townsmen, I beg to announce myself as a Candidate for your suffrages at the forthcoming Harbor Board Election.
I have lived amongst you for many years, and you all know that my sympathies arc wholly in the interests of our district. If elected, you will find me always on the side of progress, and at the same time watching closely that all proposals for new works are neeessary and practical, and that the expenditure involved is judiciously administered. Yours faithfully, WILLIAM PETTIE. HARBOR BOARD ELECTION. TO THE ELECTORS OP THE COUNTY, ~|~yU)iES and Gentlemen, — In again offering my services as your representative on the Harbor Board, I would assure you that, as heretofore, if re-elected, I shall in every way support the giving effect to the expert advice which has been obtained; and, also, being thoroughly satisfied with tho ability of the Engineer to successfully carry out the works proposed, I shall second his efforts to the utmost of my power. On all questions of finance I shall do my best to make the burden of taxation bear equitably and as lightly as possible. I shall heartily co-operate in every endeavor to afford improved facilities for both passenger and cargo traiiic, recognising that at present there is considerable room for improvement in the conveniences at present available to the public. ThankiDg you for your support in the past. Yours faithfully, WILLIAM COOPER. GISBORNE HAEBOR BOARD 'ELECTION. T adies and Gentlemen, — -*-■ I respectfully request your votes and support at the present Biennial Election as one of the representatives of the Borough of Gisborne. Certain considerations impel me to come forward at this juncture ot harbor affairs, and among other reasons please let me place before the Electors the principal motives why I seek their support in my candidature. The present wharf tariff should be revised and modelled in the direction of making the port the central entrepot of the whole East Coast district. Under present conditions this is not the case, which merchants and tradesmen generally will readily admit. I mean the abolition of all wharf charges on products coming to Gisborne from coastal ports. This will be a concession of revenue, but, in my opinion, will result as a distinct gain to the whole of the community. Better aceommmodation should be provided for the convenience of passengers, also shipping facilities now lacking. Likewise, I would strenuously advocate the erection of shelter sheds and other suitable appurtenances for the travelling public. Inasmuch as the present Board have been committed to a certain expenditure, which the law allows, I will, if quoted, take a keen interest in the economical expenditure of funds, and guard the interests of the public. In all matters concerning the welfare of this port and district, I will always endeavor, if elected, to discharge the duties of the office conscientiously, and I hope to the satisfaction of all concerned. I am, Ladies and Gentlemen, Your obedient servant, F. HARRIS.
