London, Feb. 3. Reuter’s correspondent reports that Do Wet has passed Tliabanchu, and is proceeding'in the direction of Cape Colony. General Botha would not allow Preforms, a peace envoy from the Kronstad Peace Committee, to come within his laager, informing him that tho British must make any proposal for peaco through the Boer headquarters in writing.

Seven British columns have begun to advance from the stations of Johannesburg, Pretoria, and Dclagoa Bay railways. The movement is with the view of covering tho clearing of the Eastern Transvaal. The Portuguese authorities at Dclagoa have decided to send Boors in Portuguese territory, who do not surrender to tho British, to Madiera. Thirty surrendered at Ivomati Poort. Hertzog, a Boer officer, stole 2000 horses and mules. He terrorised the Southland district, threatening even the women and childron with death. The patrol of tho Diamond Fields Horse, racing the Boers, seized Langkloof Pass, thus preventing Hcrtzog’s advance South. The cruiser Doris and two gunboats are watching Mossol Bay. The Boers attacked the scouts preceding a convoy journeying from Koffeyfontein to Moddor river, wounding three Capo boys. Suddenly a body of Denniston’s Scouts and Yeomanry, charging, killed many of the enemy. The charge was covered by a fifteenpounder and two pompoms. Tho enemy broke and fled. A British force has been despatched to intercept De Wet’s force, numbering three thousand.
A body of Australians with two guns, the irregulars and police, Welsh, and militia dislodged 400 raiders in tho vicinity of Vryburg on Saturday, killing two and capturing two. One Britisher was killed and threo wounded.
Colonel Blake, of tho Irish Brigade fame, and two thousand Boers invade Delagoa territory, hoping to release Boors.
BOERS CAPTURE A GARRISON. AFTERWARDS RELEASED. Recivcd Feb. 5, at 1.2 a.m. London, Feb. 4. It is officially reported that a thousand Boers captured the garrison at Moddersfontcin, south-west of Krugcrsdorp. The garrison were afterwards released and have arrived at Vcrccniging. PEACE EMISSARIES TO BE SHOT. Louis Botha has ordered tho peaco emissaries hereafter to be shot. HARSH TREATMENT OF PRISONERS. London, Feb. 4. A Queenslander named Private Clerk, who was shot in tho groin in a skirmish in the Clanwilliam district, rejoined DeLisle’s camp, where he succumbed to his injuries. Death is attributed to the enemy cruelly talcing his horse and compelling him to walk.
